While Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and top defense and military officials are at the Kirya to discuss the developments in northern Israel, Lt. Col. Jonathan Conricus of the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit warned Damascus and Tehran against further violating Israel’s sovereignty.
“The Syrians and the Iranians, from our point of view, are playing with fire.,” Conricus said in a statement. “The Syrians are playing with fire when they allow the Iranians to attack Israel from their soil. We are willing, prepared, and capable to exact a heavy price on anyone that attacks us. However, we are not looking to escalate the situation.”

The IDF is ready for various scenarios and will continue to act according to situation assessments.
Earlier today, an Iranian drone was downed after it entered Israel’s airspace. In response, Israel attacked the site from which the drone took off, which prompted Syrian air defense forces to fire over 25 anti-aircraft missiles at the Israeli fighter jets. The pilots of one of the jets parachuted out of their aircraft over Israeli territory. One of them is in critical condition. Both were taken to Haifa’s Rambam Hospital for medical treatment.
In response, Israel launched a major attack in Syria, targeting 12 Iranian and Syrian sites. The fighter jets that carried out this attack were also targeted by Syrian air defense forces. No injuries were reported.
Meanwhile, Syrian media outlets are reporting that another round of Israeli airstrikes is currently taking place. The IDF, however, has not confirmed this report.
Israel’s ambassador to Moscow told Russia’s Interfax news agency that Hezbollah and Iranian forces should withdraw from southern Syria immediately.
As reported earlier by JOL, Israel has asked Russia and the United States to intervene in order to prevent the situation from escalating any further.
At the Kirya, Netanyahu reportedly instructed the security cabinet ministers to not comment to the media about the situation.
