Iranian Foreign Minister: Netanyahu distorts history and TorahIn response to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s accusations according to which “Iran is trying to destroy Israel,” Iranian Foreign Affairs Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif criticized him by saying: “Netanyahu sells lies against a country that saved the Jews three times throughout history.”
After Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused Iran of trying to destroy Israel during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Iranian Foreign Affairs Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif criticized him. “Netanyahu continues distorting history and the Torah in order to sell lies against a country that saved the Jews three times throughout history,” said Zarif.
Zarif’s response came after Netanyahu described Iran as the world’s leading exporter of terrorism during his meeting with Putin. “One of the things that we are fighting together is Radical Islamic terror,” Netanyahu noted. “This year, there has been significant progress in the war on Radical Sunni Islamic terror headed by ISIS and Al Qaeda and Russia has an important contribution. It is obvious that we would not want this terror to turn into Radical Shia Islamic terrorism headed by Iran.”
Netanyahu emphasized to Putin the relevance that the story of Purim has to Israel’s current reality. “2,500 years ago, in Ancient Persia, there was an attempt to wipe out the Jewish nation, which was unsuccessful, and which we note on this holiday,” stated Netanyahu. “Today there is an attempt by Persia’s heir, Iran, to destroy the state of the Jews.”
