Israeli minister confirms diplomatic meetings with Qatar for Gaza aid

Israeli Minister Tzachi Hanegbi has confirmed that he met with Qatari envoy to Gaza Mohammed Al-Emadi to discuss the Arab nation’s aid to the Palestinian people. Hanegbi stated that the aid has gone to the hands of rebuilding and constructing neighborhoods in Gaza, rather than the hands of Hamas.

On Friday, Israeli Regional Cooperation Minister Tzachi Hanegbi said he met with a Qatari envoy during the latter’s visit to Jerusalem in February. The two discussed Qatari aid to the Palestinian people.

Hangebi said that the meeting with Qatar’s envoy to Gaza Mohammed Al-Emadi came as part of an effort “to expand our diplomatic horizon with Middle East states that, for practical and formal reasons, cannot have above-the-radar relations” with the Jewish state, Reuters reported. Al-Emadi has reportedly visited Jerusalem 20 times since the last Gaza-Israel war in 2014.

Hanegbi told Israel Radio 102FM that Israel has approved the aid from Qatar and trust that the money is going into construction for neighborhoods, rather than the hands of the Hamas terror group, Reuters added.
