“Extremists invaded Al-Aqsa,” stated Jordanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Al Safadi following the record number of Jewish visitors at the Temple Mount today for Tisha B'Av. Safadi added that this constitutes Israel breaching of the status quo.

Safadi made these statements during an assembly of foreign ministers of the Islamic countries in Turkey. “One crisis has ended, but many more dangerous ones may take place due to Israel’s continuous breaches, as we are witness to today,” stated Safadi. “A report said that the number of extremists who invaded the compound reached 1,080, which is a new record since the beginning of the occupation in 1967.”

The number of Jewish people who visited the Temple Mount today currently stands at 1,300. According to the organization Students for the Temple Mount, this is a “historical record.” The organization also claimed that the police in the area were unprepared and therefore Jewish visitors waited hours to enter.

However, at the same time, Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef, the Sephardi Chief Rabbi of Israel, said: “Especially today, on Tisha B'Av, it is important to remind people that ascending the Temple Mount is forbidden according to Jewish law; the Jews visiting the Temple Mount are dishonoring its holiness.”

On Saturday, King Abdullah II of Jordan addressed the crisis at the Temple Mount in a speech and promised to prevent the "Judaization" of Jerusalem's holy sites.
