Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein slammed his Jordanian counterpart, Atef Tarawneh, today (Monday) following the remarks he made yesterday in the Jordanian Parliament, in which Tarawneh praised Friday’s Temple Mount terrorists.

“Yesterday, there was a serious parliamentary event,” said Edelstein. “While all of us are still hurting from the terror attack that occurred at the Temple Mount, and in which two young policemen were murdered, the Jordanian Parliament Speaker stood up and said that the martyrs sowed and watered the pure land.”

According to Edelstein, he expected Tarawneh to severely condemn the terror attack and hoped that he would have been “one of the first to say: it is strictly forbidden to act violently in any place and especially not to desecrate holy sites.” But the fact that Tarawneh actually praised the terror attack lead Edelstein to say directly to the Jordanian Parliament Speaker that “it was better for you to just shut up.”
