Following Hezbollah tour of Lebanon-Israel border, Lebanese Prime Minister: ‘Committed to UN Resolution 1701’

During a tour of Naqoura, Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri stated that the role of defending the border with Israel belongs to the military and that his country will do what is necessary.

Following Hezbollah’s tour of the Lebanese-Israeli border, today (Friday), Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri arrived at the city of Naqoura, which borders with Israel, together with the Lebanese Defense Minister and with the Armed Forces Commander Joseph Aoun.

Hariri spoke against Hezbollah’s tour and stated: “Lebanon is committed to the UN Security Council Resolution 1701, committed to protecting the border and the Lebanese military is the one responsible for so.”

Hariri said that the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) also has an important role. “I will not convince Hezbollah about several issues and Hezbollah will not convince me,” he explained. “But we do what we must as a state and I am not afraid of any war.”
