Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman said Wednesday during his visit in Russia that Iran's presence on Israel's northern border is "unacceptable," saying Iran is using Syrian territory as a base for smuggling weapons to Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Lieberman met with Sergei Shoigu, his Russian counterpart, and Sergei Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, to discuss recent developments in Syria. "We will not allow the concentration of Iranian and Hezbollah forces on the Golan border," he told them.

Regarding the situation in Gaza, Lieberman told Lavrov that Hamas uses the taxes it collects from the Gazan citizens "for making rockets and digging tunnels" instead of improving the living conditions.
