‘Scissor terrorist’ sentenced to 13.5 years in prisonA 16-year-old Palestinian girl, the terrorist who planned a stabbing attack with a family member in Jerusalem, was sentenced to 13.5 years in prison and a suspended sentence after admitting to one attempted murder charge through her plea bargain. The terrorist will also be forced to pay compensation to the victim she wounded.
Today (Wednesday), the Jerusalem District Court sent the female Palestinian terrorist, who carried out one of the “scissor terror attacks” in Jerusalem’s Mahane Yehuda Market last year, to 13.5-years imprisonment. The terrorist, who was 16-years-old when she executed the terror attack, admitted to one attempted murder charge through a plea bargain. The court also condemned her to a year-and-a-half suspended sentence and she will be forced to pay 30,000 NIS to the victim she wounded. One of her family members who also carried out the terror attack was eliminated at the scene.
According to the indictment, the terrorist’s family member said that she wished to execute a nationalistic motivated terror attack to avenge her brother’s death in 2013 during confrontations with IDF forces. The two left their homes with their schoolbags so that they would raise their parents’ suspicions, went on the bus and arrived in Jerusalem. They began their morning by praying at al-Aqsa mosque. Afterwards, they purchased two pairs of scissors with which they would carry out the terror attack. They went on the Jerusalem Light Rail and got off near the Jerusalem Municipality building. From there, they walked down Jaffa Street searching for Jews to attack.
As reported by JOL last year, the two laid their backpacks near the Jerusalem Light Rail Mahane Yehuda Station to ease them in carrying out the terror attack. The Light Rail security guard noticed this and shouted for them to come retrieve their bags, which they did. At 11:20, they began their attack.
