Abbas says Trump administration "seriously considering" solution to Israeli-Palestinian conflictThe leader of the Palestinian Authority said after his meeting with Jason Greenblatt, Trump's Middle East envoy, that Trump's administration seems serious about finding a solution to the issue.
Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas said Wednesday that US President Donald Trump is "serious" about seeking a solution for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
At the end of the Arab League Summit in Jordan, Abbas told AFP that Trump's administration is "seriously considering a solution" for the conflict. "There is continuing dialogue with the American administration and there were a number of issues on which they wanted our opinion," he said.
Before leaving for the summit, Abbas met with Jason Greenblatt, Trump's Middle East envoy. Greenblatt tweeted that the meeting was "positive" and that it "continued (the) discussion on how to make tangible progress on peace."
On Wednesday, Arab leaders who participated in the summit issued a statement calling on the international community to refrain from recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital. They also expressed their support of a two-state solution and condemned "unilateral steps" allegedly taken by Israel.
