Today: Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas to meet with Trump in Washington

President of the Palestinian National Authority Mahmoud Abbas arrived in the US last night and will meet with US President Donald Trump. According to reports, Trump will ask him to cooperate with his peace initiative for Israel and the Palestinians.

Today (Wednesday), President of the Palestinian National Authority Mahmoud Abbas and US President Donald Trump will meet in the White House. Abbas arrived in Washington last night and will stay for three days. 

According to reports, Trump will demand that the Palestinian leader cooperate with his peace initiative for Israel and the Palestinians.

In an interview given last month, Abbas clarified that he is willing to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington at any time. He doesn’t believe that there is an alternative to the two-state solution.

Later this month, Trump is expected to visit Israel. US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley is also expected to arrive in Israel in June.
