The Arab League: "We are committed to a two-state solution"
Nikki Haley voices unwavering US support for two-state solution at UNFollowing US President Donald Trump’s unclear stance about his support for the two-state solution, US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley reassured the international community that America supports this solution. “What does it take to bring these sides together?” she asked.
Today (Thursday), US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley said that there is no question about the United States’ stance on the topic of a two-state solution. In a UN Security Council discussion today, Haley spoke on behalf of the US and reiterated that the US “strongly supports a two-state solution.” On Wednesday, Trump stated that he supports any solution the Israelis and the Palestinians want.
Haley told reporters: “We are thinking out of the box as well, which is: What does it take to bring these two sides to the table? What do we need to have them agree on?”
The topic of the discussion was the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Nickolay Mladenov spoke at the beginning of the discussion about the Israeli Regulation law: “If the law stays in place, it will have far-reaching consequences for Israel while seriously undermining prospects for the two-state solution and for Arab-Israeli peace.”
“The two-state solution remains the only way to achieve the legitimate national aspirations of both peoples,” Mladenov added.
Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon stated that the UN should stop its obsession with the only democracy in the Middle East and take care of the urgent conflicts in the area such as the crumbling refugee situation in Syria.
