Today (Sunday), Israeli security officials stated that Hamas has recently taken a firmer position in relation to negotiations of a possible prisoner exchange deal. According to the report, the terrorist organization is demanding that before it releases any prisoners, Israel must release thousands of prisoners that were arrested during Operation Brother’s Keeper.

In addition, it was reported that Hamas is interested in a deal similar to the Gilad Shalit prisoner exchange deal, in which over 1,000 security prisoners were released. As reported earlier by JOL, the Goldin family slammed Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman after his call not to appoint a new Coordinator of the Prisoners of War and Missing in Action persons following Lior Lotan’s resignation.

Lieberman said in a statement that he understands Leah Goldin’s criticism, but Israel “must not repeat the mistakes made in the [Gilad] Shalit prisoner exchange.”
