Fathi Hamad, minister of the interior of the de-facto Hamas administration in the Gaza Strip (March 13,2013) (IDF spokesman, March 13, 2013).

Palestinian sources told Israeli state radio station Kan that the Hamas terrorist group arrested a cell of a group affiliated with the Palestinian nationalist movement Fatah in Gaza and is questioning it following the firing of a rocket against the city of Beer Sheva two days ago. Sheva, the main city in southern Israel, 40 kilometers from the Strip. #The source said that it was an attempt to offer a distorted image of the events accusing Fatah of launching the projectile, when in fact the shot was fired by members of the Hamas military wing, under the command of Fathi Hamad, one of head of the Islamist group.

After the fall of the rocket in an open area on the outskirts of Beer Sheva, the Air Force detonated with missiles a five-story building in the center of Gaza City. According to the military spokesman, the building that appeared as a "cultural center" served as a barracks for the military wing of Hamas.

Health sources in Gaza reported that another Palestinian succumbed to the wounds caused by the fire of Israeli soldiers in the southern Gaza Strip during the violent clashes near the border fence. In this way, the number of Palestinians killed in the clashes on Friday amounts to three. An official source in Gaza said that more than 80 Palestinians suffered gunshot wounds and about 200 were affected by tear gas.

Around nine thousand Palestinians protested in five flashpoints along the border fence between Israel and Gaza. A part of them participated in the riots, throwing Molotov bombs, explosive devices and stones against the security forces. A unit of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) identified an attempt to penetrate the border fence, and the military spokesman said that several terrorists threw a grenade at soldiers in the north of the Strip, without causing injuries.

In parallel, the IDF announced the deployment of an Iron Dome anti-missile battery in the center of the country for fear of escalation given the fragility of the security situation. Senior Israeli officials clarified to Egypt and the UN envoy for the Middle East, Nickolay Mladenov, that despite the calm that prevails in the last hours, Israel is not committed to the ceasefire declared unilaterally by Hamas.

Israeli officials warned that the security apparatus will respond to all terrorist activity in the area, whether it be firing on Israeli territory or launching balloons and incendiary kites.
