A Palestinian woman in her 20s was arrested Monday night after being suspected of attempting to commit a stabbing attack. The young woman was arrested when she arrived at one of the security posts around the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron holding a knife.

Surprised by the Israeli Border Police officers coming towards her, the suspect threw the knife down to the ground. The soldiers who noticed this arrested the young woman, a resident of Yatta near Hebron, without gunfire.

A preliminary police investigation revealed that the suspected terrorist had in fact come to carry out a stabbing attack in order to be deemed a “martyr.” Her case was transferred to security officials for further investigation.
