Islamic Jihad says Israel's warning video shows 'fear' of retaliatory attack

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad responded on Sunday to a video in which IDF general Yoav Mordechai warned Israel would deliver a "harsh" response to an attack by the terror group, saying it is a sign of Israeli "fear" and a declaration of war.

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad said on Sunday that the Israeli warning video released last night shows Israel's "fear" of the terror group's response to the demolition of a tunnel two weeks ago.

"The threats of the occupation do not scare us," the group said in a statement. "They are a declaration of war and we will act against it."

On Saturday, IDF Maj. Gen. Yoav Mordechai, the Coordinator of Government Activity in the Territories, released a video in which he addressed the leaders of Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad in Arabic, warning them not to attempt a retaliatory attack in response to the tunnel explosion.

"We are aware of the plot that the Palestinian Islamic Jihad terror group plans against Israel," Mordechai said. "They are playing with fire at the expense of the Gazan residents, the Palestinian reconciliation efforts and the stability of the entire region."

"Let it be clear," he added. "Any attack by the Islamic Jihad will be met with a harsh and determined Israeli response."
