Abbas: Netanyahu not interested in resuming peace talks
Israeli Finance Minister meets Palestinian PM to discuss economic stepsAs a result of pressure from US Middle East envoy Jason Greenblatt, Israeli Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon met with Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah to discuss ways to improve the financial ties between the two sides.
Israel's Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon met on Sunday with Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah to discuss a series of economic gestures.
The two sides reportedly discussed the expansion of an industrial zone in Tarqumiyah, where Israelis and Palestinians will be able to work together, among other financial steps.
The meeting came after a series of meetings between Kahlon and US Middle East envoy Jason Greenblatt, in which the latter pushed for improving the economic ties between Israel and the Palestinian Authority.
Greenblatt said Monday the meeting between Kahlon and Hamdallah was a sign of "important progress ... between Israeli and Palestinian sides," adding that "meaningful steps" were taken to promote peace.
The meeting was also attended by Shai Babad, the Director-General of the Finance Ministry, and Maj. Gen. Yoav Mordechai, the IDF Coordinator of Government Activity in the Territories.
