A West Bank resident who was armed with a knife was arrested by Israel Border Police officers Wednesday evening at a security checkpoint near the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron. The man stood a few meters away from the police forces and shouted at one of them, "soldier, soldier," at which point the soldiers noticed the knife in his hand.

The soldiers, who spotted the man while inspecting another person at the time, raised and pointed their weapons towards him as they called on him to throw down the knife and raise his hands. The suspected terrorist, a 25-year-old resident of Hebron, obeyed their orders, threw the knife down and was subsequently arrested. Security officials questioned him afterward.

Just last week, a man was severely injured in a stabbing terror attack at a supermarket in Yavne by a 19-year-old terrorist from the West Bank who was illegally in Israel. Minutes after the attack, an IDF unit raided the terrorist’s home. Magen David Adom personnel who arrived at the scene of the attack treated the injured victim and evacuated him to Kaplan Hospital in Rehovot in a critically unstable condition, which stabilized later on.
