On Friday, the Palestinian news source Wafa stated that clashes took place between IDF soldiers and Palestinian protesters in Bethlehem during a “Day of Rage.” According to Wafa, “Forces fired teargas canisters and stun grenades to disperse the protesters who were demonstrating against US President Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.”

Palestinian faction leaders had called on Palestinians to antagonize IDF soldiers and settlers after Friday prayers in order to mark the 100th day since Trump’s Jerusalem announcement. Gaza and West Bank officials further encouraged Palestinians to take to the streets as part of the weekly Friday demonstrations against Trump.

According to Hamas’ website, “The Palestinian movement reiterated that such protests would continue until the US President Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of the state of the Israeli occupation is undermined.”
