Less than a day after Channel 2 News reported that U.S. President Donald Trump shouted at Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas last week during their meeting in Bethlehem, a senior Palestinian official denied the report, claiming that the Israeli media made it up. “The Israelis edited the conversation between Trump and Abu Mazen [Abbas] in a false manner,” the official told the Ma’an News Agency.

“The goal of the Israelis is to prevent the return of the negotiations because the Israelis don’t want to reach peace,” continued the official. “We know [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu is afraid of the right-wing coalition and the ministers who are settlers. [He is] afraid of telling Trump the truth and that is why they are presenting Abu Mazen as the one responsible for the failure of the negotiations.”
