A Palestinian spokesperson on Thursday denounced US President Donald Trump's retreat from the two-state solution, saying that the alternative would be "painful bloodshed."

Nasser al-Kidwa, a PLO official, was quoted by The Jerusalem Post as equating the rejection of a two-state solution with the rejection of a peace process in general. "This will not lead to the disappearance of a Palestinian state, and will not lead to the crushing of the prospect of a Palestinian state," he said.

Palestinian terror groups Hamas and the Popular Front (PFLP) have also criticized the position voiced by Trump, which they view as an attempt by him and Netanyahu to "destroy the Palestinian issue."
