According to Palestinian Authority (PA) officials, IDF forces fatally shot a 26-year-old Palestinian yesterday (Friday) during protests and stone-throwing attacks that occurred along the border with Gaza. IDF officials said that the report regarding the incident is under investigation.

The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit reported that throughout the day, violent riots transpired near the border fence in the Shuja’iyya and al-Bureij areas where dozens of Palestinians threw stones and burning tires and destroyed the fence. During the riots, the soldiers followed the IDF’s rules of engagement.

As a result of the recent transpiring events along the border with Gaza, including the aforementioned incident and an attempt to infiltrate Israeli territory, Israeli Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories Major General Yoav Mordechai spoke in an interview last night (Friday) with the Palestinian Ma’an News Agency. “Whoever attempts to enter Israeli territory will endanger his life,” Mordechai stated.

Mordechai said that Hamas is fully responsible for the deteriorating circumstances and the protests along the Israeli-Gazan border by virtue of the terrorist organization's sovereignty in the Gaza Strip.
