Fires broke out in several locations in southern Israel on Tuesday as a result of flammable kites flown from the Gaza Strip.

Firefighters were able to gain control over the flames and prevent them from reaching Israeli kibbutzim and towns located near the border. The fires did, however, cause damage to crops and fields in the area.

Last week, JOL reported that the IDF is considering tougher measures against fliers of kites loaded with flammable material, which it sees as a form of terrorism.
