2 Palestinians succumb to wounds sustained during border clashesTwo young Palestinians died in Gaza in the past 24 hours after they were shot by Israeli troops during the recent border protests. Both of them sustained serious wounds and were treated at the Gaza European Hospital.
Two Palestinians who were shot by Israeli forces along the Gaza border in recent weeks succumbed to their wounds in the past 24 hours, the Palestinian Authority’s official news agency Wafa reported Monday, citing Gaza’s Health Ministry.
Tahrir Saeed Wahba, an 18-year-old Palestinian who was reportedly deaf, was injured two weeks ago along the border. He was evacuated to the Gaza European Hospital in serious condition. He passed away this morning.
The second Palestinian was identified as 20-year-old Abdullah Mohammad Shimaly. He was reportedly injured on Friday of last week. He passed away at the same hospital yesterday evening.
Wafa reported that the ministry added that with the deaths of Wahba and Shimaly, the number of Palestinians killed along the border by Israeli fire since the end of March has reached 39.
On Saturday, the EU called for an investigation into the deaths of four Palestinian protesters during Friday’s clashes along the Gaza-Israel border. “Yesterday, Israeli soldiers again opened fire on protesters in Gaza using live ammunition from across the border fence killing four Palestinians, including a 15-year old and wounding more than 150,” Maja Kocijancic, a spokesperson for the EU, said in a statement. “A full investigation is needed to understand what happened and why.”
