Egypt's President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi won 97% of the votes in last week's elections, according to the official results published on Monday.
El-Sisi was first elected as president in 2014, a year after leading a military coup as the army's Chief of Staff that overthrew Mohamed Morsi of the Muslim Brotherhood. He has since been enjoying wall-to-wall support for his actions against terrorism and for maintaining stability and development.
Only 41% of registered voters went to the ballots on Wednesday, an even lower turnout that in the previous election. Mostafa Mousa, el-Sisi's only challenger, received just under 3% of the votes.
