The Palestinian Legislative Council in Gaza decided yesterday (Thursday) that Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah will no longer be recognized as the prime minister in Gaza. The council ruled that senior level Hamas official Ismail Haniyeh will be recognized as the PA prime minister in Gaza, a position he formerly held.

The reason behind the decision is the extreme dissatisfaction in Gaza regarding Hamdallah’s performance. However, it appears that the decision was also related to the Palestinian Supreme Court’s recent ruling regarding the local elections in Gaza.

About two weeks ago, JOL reported that the court decided to cancel the local elections in Gaza.
