The Jordanian intelligence department thwarted a “massive” terror attack planned by an ISIS-backed cell in November 2017, Jordan’s state news agency Petra reported on Monday.

The terrorists had already surveilled potential targets such as military bases, shopping centers and media outlets. The state-run news agency said that the country’s intelligence department arrested 17 members of the terror cell and confiscated weapons and other materials that they were planning to use in the attack.

The terrorists have been charged with serious crimes such as plotting to carry out an attack, promoting the ideology of a terrorist group and intent to sell weapons.
