The Syrian media reported tonight that Syrian President Bashar Al Assad approved the outline to end the civil war that has been waging within the country for the last 5 years. The report comes after US Secretary of State John Kerry and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov formulated an outline to end the crisis starting next Monday.

“The Syrian government approved the agreement and the cessation of hostilities in Aleppo for humanitarian reasons,” the SANA News Agency reported. The news agency quoted informed sources who stated that “one of the goals of the agreement is to reach a needed political solution for Syria.”

A few hours after the outline for the ceasefire was announced, around 25 people were killed during a Russian attack on the city of Idlib. At the same time, 30 were reported killed during the crossfire in Aleppo and the suburbs of Damascus.
