The Iranian Military Chief of General Staff recently visited Turkey, and his Turkish counterpart is expected to arrive in Tehran soon. Cooperation between the two countries is taking place in an attempt to eliminate the rebels, including some al-Qaeda forces, in the city of Idlib, Syria.

According to plans, Syrian and Iranian forces will arrive from the south of the city while the Turkish forces will surround the rebels from the north. Russia will lead the entire operation. This is the first time that the two countries are discussing the possibility of a joint military operation.

Meanwhile, Israel is concerned about Iran’s growing influence in Syria. As reported earlier by JOL, Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman threatened to intervene in the Syrian war in order to prevent Iran from gaining ground in the country.
