Saudi Arabia announces plans to build Las Vegas-size entertainment city in Riyadh

In 2022, Saudi Arabia plans to open a huge entertainment city in Riyadh. The city will be about the same size as Las Vegas. The city is part of the country’s 2030 Vision, which aims to reduce the kingdom’s dependence on oil by diversifying the Saudi economy.

Saudi Arabia has unveiled new plans to build a huge entertainment city in the country’s capital city of Riyadh. The 334-square km city will be about the same size as Las Vegas and offer visitors various entertainment, cultural and sporting options.

The construction will begin in 2018. According to a statement released by Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the city will open in 2022 and the main investor in the entertainment project will be the Saudi Public Investment Fund.

The city is considered a part of the kingdom’s Vision 2030 reform project, which aims to reduce the country’s dependence on oil by diversifying the Saudi economy.

Two months ago, JOL reported that Saudi Arabia hosted its first-ever Comic-Con event in Jeddah. The goal of the event was to bring more entertainment options to the citizens of the kingdom.
