Terror plot foiled at Mecca's Grand Mosque, reports in Saudi Arabia say

The Saudi Interior Ministry said a suicide bomber blew himself up in a house near the Grand Mosque, or Masjid al-Haram, which is where worshipers mark the end of Ramadan.

Security forces in Saudi Arabia have foiled a terror attack targeting the Grand Mosque in the city of Mecca, Saudi media outlets reported Saturday.

Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Interior said five people have been arrested, including one woman, after forces conducted raids in Mecca and Jeddah.

According to reports, a suicide bomber blew himself up in a house surrounded by security forces, injuring 11 people.

The Grand Mosque, or Masjid al-Haram, considered the holiest site in Islam, is where worshipers gather annually to mark the conclusion of the month of Ramadan.
