Syrian Army expels ISIS terrorists from stronghold near DamascusISIS terrorists have evacuated their final stronghold near Damascus, restoring state control over the area for the first time in years, a war monitor reported on Sunday. ISIS terrorists have evacuated from their last Syrian stronghold near Damascus, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Sunday.
The terrorists had been held up in the enclave near the Palestinian Yarmouk refugee camp south of the capital. Their withdrawal will restore state control over the area for the first time since the start of the Syrian conflict in 2011.
The observatory reported that buses entered the enclave after midnight to take out terrorists and their families and departed in the direction of Badia, a sparsely populated area in eastern Syria.
A Syrian military source denied yesterday that an agreement had been reached between the Syrian Army and the ISIS terrorists and Syrian state media made no mention of the withdrawal.
