A journalist associated with the Syrian Opposition, who lives in the city of Idlib where Assad’s forces implemented a chemical attack, spoke about the atrocities that took place in the city in an exclusive interview with Channel 2 News after over 100 people were killed including many children. “Many children inhaled the gas and died,” journalist Ibrahim Al Idlibi stated. “I saw children with swollen eyes who could not breathe. They were terrified.”

Most of the victims of Assad’s chemical attack were women and children. According to Al Idlibi, there were no rebel fighters in the affected area: “It cannot be said that there were fighters from the Free Syrian Army and Jabhat Al Nusra.”

“This morning, Russian and Syrian planes appeared in the sky and launched 10 missiles into the heart of Khan Sheikhoun,” he stated. “It was a chemical gas called sarin, which was first used in the Idlib district.”

“The doctors at the medical centers used water to help the women and children who inhaled the sarin gas,” the journalist stated. Shortly after the first attack, the hospital where the injured were treated was also bombed.

“Assad possesses chlorine, sarin and other chemical gases and he uses them to kill people inside Syria,” Al Idlibi stated. “The regime continues to bomb from the air via battle planes in order to kill civilians in Northern Syria and other areas controlled by the Syrian Opposition.” However, Al Idlibi clarified that he is not afraid and he will continue with his work, even if it means speaking to the Israeli media.

In videos that were distributed on social media, shocking images appeared of bodies on the street and medical teams treating the injured. Human rights organizations reported that medical officials claimed that the victims suffer from fainting and suffocation. Some of them have foam dripping from their mouths and some of them suffer spasms. They noted that these are signs that they suffered from a chemical attack. The Syrian Opposition has distributed shocking pictures of the injured as well as documentation of the children that were killed.
