US forces conduct air strikes on al-Qaeda targets in Yemen

The strikes, which lasted about 30 minutes and took place in three major Yemenite provinces, involved a mix of manned and unmanned aircraft, as well as ground forces.

The US Air Force conducted a series of air strikes in Yemen overnight, targeting infrastructure of AQAP – an al-Qaeda-affiliated terror group in the Arabian Peninsula.

According to reports, the strikes, which took place in three major Yemenite provinces, involved a mix of manned and unmanned aircrafts, as well as ground forces. One of the targets was the home of Saad Atef, a local AQAP leader.

"The strikes will degrade the AQAP's ability to coordinate external terror attacks and limit their ability to use territory seized from the legitimate government of Yemen as a safe space for terror plotting," said Navy Captain Jeff Davis.
