Watch: Iran unveils 2000-km ballistic missile during military marchA 2000-km ballistic missile was unveiled during a military parade in Tehran. Iran's President Hassan Rouhani said his country will continue to strengthen its military capabilities
Iran on Friday unveiled a new type of ballistic missile during a military march, with a 2000-km range and capable of carrying several warheads.
In a speech hours earlier, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani vowed that his country will keep strengthening its military capabilities without asking permission from any country.
"Every country in the world is supporting the nuclear deal we signed," Rouhani said, "except the United States and the Zionist regime."
"The Zionist regime, which poses a threat to the security of the region with its nuclear weapons, and is not bound by any agreement, has the nerve to condemn the deal," he added.
Rouhani's comments come in response to a fiery speech by US President Donald Trump at the UN General Assembly, in which he urged world nations to confront the Iranian regime, which "speaks openly of mass murder, vowing death to America, destruction to Israel, and ruin for many leaders and nations in this room."
"We cannot let a murderous regime continue these destabilizing activities while building dangerous missiles, and we cannot abide by an agreement if it provides cover for the eventual construction of a nuclear program," Trump said.
