On Saturday, IDF soldiers spotted a drone that took off from the Gaza Strip and fell in Israeli territory. The drone has been taken for testing while the circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.

As previously reported by JOL, in February, Israeli security forces thwarted an attempt to smuggle hundreds of banned items into the Gaza Strip through the postal service. The packages were inspected at the Erez Border Crossing and contained items that were ordered online by civilians in Gaza. The Israeli security forces believed that the civilians were being used by the terrorist organizations in Gaza.

In addition to anti-smuggling activities at the Kerem Shalom Crossing, the Crossings Authority in Israel reports that attempts to smuggle goods through postal shipments have resumed, and that recently, the authority’s members together with the Shin Bet and the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories, have successfully prevented smuggling to terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip via postal deliveries through the Erez Crossing. The items were confiscated and investigations were opened to identify those behind the smuggling attempts.
