Just a few hours following JOL’s report concerning the rocket that landed in a Sderot residential neighborhood, the IAF struck three Hamas terror targets within the Gaza Strip. Following the IAF’s retaliation, media outlets in Gaza reported additional airstrikes in the area.

Earlier today, an additional Hamas target in Northern Gaza was struck by an Israeli tank. “The airstrikes were conducted in response to the high trajectory fire towards the city of Sderot this morning, rocket fire that constitutes a security threat for Israeli citizens and harms the State of Israel’s sovereignty,” the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit wrote in an official statement. “The Hamas terrorist organization is the sovereign in the Gaza Strip and responsible for every incident [emanating from it].”

Hamas quickly responded to the Israeli airstrikes stating that they will not remain silent against the so-called “Israeli aggression.” As reported earlier by JOL, an ISIS affiliated terrorist organization, Afhad al-Sahaba, claimed responsibility for the rocket fire. The terrorist organization explained that the rocket fire was carried out as part of the ongoing jihad against the Jews and in response to the arrests of its members by Hamas over the past few days.
