A., a 22-year-old soldier who serves in the IDF’s elite Oketz Unit and lives in Halamish, was on leave on Friday when a Palestinian terrorist attacked his neighbors. He heard their calls for help and quickly ran to the scene. When he saw the terrorist, he shot him once, neutralizing him. “Yesterday, during the Friday night dinner with my family, we heard screams from the direction of our neighbors' home,” he said in a video that was released by the IDF Spokesperson on Saturday evening.

“We went outside to see what was happening, my father and I,” he continued. “When we saw that it was a serious incident, I ran back in and got my gun. I stood outside the home and saw the terrorist from the window. I understood that I needed to act calmly and be professional. I shot one bullet that hit him in his stomach and neutralized him.”

“For me personally, it’s a complex experience and I’m trying to focus on the fact that by doing the little that I did, I prevented this from turning into a much graver tragedy,” A. added. Five years ago, A. neutralized a terrorist in a similar incident.
