The trial of Elor Azaria resumed today (Sunday) at the military court in Jaffa. The defense team subpoenaed witnesses who will try to prove that Azaria shot the neutralized terrorist because he felt that his life was in danger.

Azaria’s lawyers promised that that witnesses’ testimonies will include “surprises” and accused the prosecution of leaking the witness statements. The first witness who was called to the stand was the security officer of the Committee of the Jewish Community of Hebron. The security officer attacked former defense minister Moshe Ya’alon, claiming that he put words in his mouth regarding the shooting.

Last week, it was reported by JOL that the defense team’s witness list would include 3 senior level former IDF officers, Brig. Gen. (res.) Shmuel Zakai, Gen. (res.) Dan Biton and Gen. (res.) Uzi Dayan.
