In accordance with the instructions of the political echelon, IDF and Border Police forces demolished the home of Muhammad Almajid Ameira in Dura last night (Monday). Ameira committed the shooting attack on Route 60 in which Rabbi Michael Mark was murdered in front of his family.

In July, the Shin Bet announced that some members of the terror cell that committed the attack on behalf of Hamas were arrested at the end of a joint operation conducted with the IDF and Israel Police. During the raid on the apartment in which Muhammad Fakieh, another member of the terror cell, was hiding out, the terrorist opened fire on the security forces. In response, the security forces fired anti-tank rockets and destroyed the home, eliminating Fakieh. At the scene, the security forces discovered many weapons including a Kalashnikov and a makeshift grenade.

38-year-old Ameira was arrested on suspicion that he aided Fakieh in committing the terror attack. Ameira, who was a Palestinian Preventive Security Force member, admitted during his interrogation that he was driving the car while Fakieh fired at Mark’s vehicle.

In the past, Fakieh was imprisoned in Israel for his involvement with the Palestinian Islamic Jihad. He was convicted of planning terror attacks with other terrorists. During his imprisonment, he decided to join Hamas.
