Early this morning, IAF fighter jets attacked 15 Hamas terror targets that are part of the organization's naval force in northern Gaza. The targets were attacked in two rounds of airstrikes, which were carried out in response to last night's rocket launches towards Israeli communities adjacent to the Gaza Strip. No casualties were reported.

"Moments ago, IAF fighter jets targeted five terror targets at a military compound belonging to the Hamas terror organization's naval force in the northern Gaza Strip," the IDF Spokesperson's Unit tweeted after the first attack. "This strike was conducted in response to the projectiles which were fired from the Gaza Strip into Israel last night, in addition to the acts of terror approved and led by the Hamas terror organization throughout the weekend."

During the night, citizens living adjacent to the Gaza border were awakened four times to the sound of rocket sirens. The sirens sounded in Sderot, Sha'ar HaNegev Regional Council, Eshkol Regional Council, Hof Ashkelon Regional Council and Lakhish Regional Council. In total, four rockets were launched, three of which were intercepted by the Iron Dome system.

The rocket launches come after Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad announced on Wednesday morning that they reached a ceasefire agreement with Israel to return to the terms set during the Operation Protective Edge ceasefire in 2014. Hamas political bureau member Khalil al-Haya confirmed that the Palestinian factions would be committed to the ceasefire as long as Israel complied as well.
