Israeli fighter jets continued to target Hamas sites in the Gaza Strip early Sunday morning after eight targets were attacked late Saturday night. The Israeli Air Force struck a total of 18 targets in Gaza, including an attack tunnel in al-Zaytun Quarter and a weapons production factory in Khan Yunis.
The escalation along Israel’s southern border with Gaza began when an explosive device was detonated on Saturday afternoon near the border as an IDF patrol was in the area. Four soldiers were wounded. Two of them suffered serious injuries. In response, IDF tanks struck two observation posts near the border.
A few hours later, a rocket siren was sounded in the Israeli border communities after a rocket was fired from Gaza. The rocket hit a house in a Sha’ar HaNegev Regional Council community but failed to explode. The incident occurred while the family was inside the house. None of the family members were injured but damage was caused to the home.
Early Sunday morning, several rocket sirens were activated in the area. However, the IDF stated that these sirens were false alarms.
