Israeli fighter jets attacked a Hamas target in northern Gaza early Monday morning after terrorists breached the security fence and placed explosive devices along the border.

“The IDF views with great severity any attempt to damage the security fence or security infrastructure & will not allow the region to become a combat zone,” the IDF spokesperson wrote on Twitter following the airstrike. “Hamas is responsible for all events originating from the Gaza Strip & its consequences.”

Yesterday, the Israeli military stated that a tank opened fire on three Palestinians who broke through the security fence. The Palestinians fled back to Gaza when the tank fired. When IDF soldiers searched the area, they found two improvised explosive devices.

Earlier on Sunday, an unarmed Palestinian man breached the border and was taken into custody by Israeli troops.
