IDF forces neutralized 2 explosive devices laid next to the Israel-Gaza barrier, which were targeted at the soldiers. The explosives were placed in a no-crossing zone and after being defused, were taken for further investigation. No injuries were reported.

Last Thursday, shots were fired at IDF soldiers engaged in a routine patrol near the Gaza security fence. No injuries were caused, although a tractor was hit. In response, IDF tanks fired at two Hamas outposts.

A day before that, a rocket exploded in an open field within the Ashkelon Regional Council. IDF Head of Intelligence Directorate Major General Herzi Halevi warned members of the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee that Gaza is on the verge of crisis, a reality that he says is likely to lead to a military escalation despite Hamas’ reluctance to disrupt the status quo.
