Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) Maj.-Gen. Yoav Mordechai called on Palestinians in Gaza to end the violent demonstrations along the Gazan-Israeli border. In a short video released Monday, Mordechai warned: “From today, the IDF will take more severe measures against rioters.”

In the past two months, about 15 Palestinians were killed and more than 400 were injured in protests that took place along the border. “The violent clashes along the border are being used as a cover for terrorist activities,” the IDF general added. “We will not allow this to happen.”

Mordechai stressed that Hamas is taking advantage of the Palestinians living in Gaza. “Senior Hamas members are sending you to do their work while you risk your life,” he stated. “You won’t see the children of the Hamas leadership even coming close to the border.”

COGAT concluded the video by issuing a warning to the Hamas leadership: “Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones at others.”
