A red alert siren was sounded early Saturday morning in the Eshkol Regional Council near the Gaza border.

The IDF Spokesperson's Unit stated it was a false alarm probably caused by small-arms spillover fire from Sinai. There were no reports of rocket landings or property damage.

Tensions along the Gaza border have been high in the last few days as IDF forces prepare for a possible reaction to the blast of a tunnel by Israel earlier this week, in which 14 Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorists were killed.
