Most popular name among Israeli pilots: Guy

Ahead of the upcoming pilot’s course graduation ceremony, the IDF revealed some interesting facts about the pilots and aircrew members who have completed the course in the past 10 years. The most popular name among them: Guy.

On Thursday, the graduation ceremony for the 174th Israeli Air Force pilot’s course will be held. Ahead of the ceremony, the IDF released interesting details about the cadets who will graduate this week after starting the course three years ago and those pilots and aircrew members who are already protecting Israel’s skies.

The most popular name among the IAF pilots and aircrew members who finished the course in the past decade is Guy, followed by Omri, Roy, Assaf, Itai, Yuval, Or, Eyal, Alon and Nir. The IDF also revealed that 46% of the IAF pilots and aircrew members are from cities. 30% of them are from community settlements and 22% of them are from agricultural communities.

54% of those who have finished prestigious course are the middle child in their family. 22% of them are the oldest child in their family while 21% of them are the youngest. 3% of them have no siblings.

11% of them were not the first in their family to receive the Israeli pilot’s wings pin. In addition, 8% of them were not born in Israel; they immigrated from Italy, Spain and the U.S.
