The IDF has confirmed that a soldier was seriously injured earlier today (Thursday) during an operation in the West Bank.

Soldiers from the elite Duvdevan unit entered the al-Am’ari refugee camp near Ramallah to arrest suspected terrorists when they were attacked by dozens of Palestinians who threw rocks and cement blocks at them. One soldier was hit in the head and was critically wounded.

The injured soldier was evacuated to a hospital to receive medical treatment while sedated and on a respirator. The incident is being investigated by the IDF and the soldier's family was notified.

A video taken by a local Palestinian shows the crowd of Palestinians throwing objects at the military vehicles as they drove through the refugee camp.

In 2016, IDF soldiers on a raid in the al-Am'ari refugee camp were met with Palestinian resistance when gunmen shot at them and hurled rocks and explosives at them. One soldier was injured and at least 28 Palestinians were wounded when the soldiers returned fire.
