IDF instructs troops to shoot Palestinians who try to cross fence
IDF Spokesperson accuses Hamas of planning riot, dismisses non-violence claimsIDF Spokesperson Brig. Gen. Ronen Manelis has dismissed claims by Hamas that Friday's mass protest is intended to be a non-violent demonstration, accusing the terrorist group of "exploiting its citizens" and assuring that the IDF is "prepared for any scenario."
The IDF Spokesperson on Thursday accused Hamas of exploiting its citizens by encouraging women and children to participate in a provocative and potentially-dangerous demonstration.
The terrorist group has been sending mixed messages regarding the nature of Friday's mass protest; it has set up a camp site near the fence and has booked performances by local artists in an attempt to portray the event as festive and non-violent, but it has also publicly called on its citizens to march toward the fence and even attempt to cross it into Israel.
"The IDF is prepared for any scenario," IDF Spokesperson Brig. Gen. Ronen Manelis told Israel News Company in a television interview. "We have doubled the amount of our forces, ... we are alert and calm."
Manelis dismissed Hamas' claims that Friday's demonstration is intended to be non-violent and said it seeks to provoke violence along the Gaza-Israel border. "Hamas is sending women and children to a fighting zone," Manelis said. "It's not a summer camp."
