In rare op-ed, IDF Spokesperson urges Lebanese citizens to oppose IranIn an op-ed published on Arabic-language media and on Lebanese opposition websites, IDF Spokesperson Brig. Gen. Ronen Manelis is calling on the citizens of Lebanon to oppose Iran's takeover of their country.
In an unusual move, the IDF Spokesperson is calling on the citizens of Lebanon to realize that Iran has taken over their country.
In an op-ed published on Arabic-language media and on Lebanese opposition-owned websites, IDF Spokesperson Brig. Gen. Ronen Manelis wrote that Iran has turned Lebanon into "one big missile factory" as the international community is turning a blind eye.
"It's no longer just transferring weapons, money or strategic advice," Manelis wrote. "Iran has de facto opened a new branch in Lebanon."
"One might mistakenly think that this process is turning Lebanon into a stronghold," he continued. "But it's nothing but a barrel of gunpowder on which you, your families and your assets are sitting. One of every three or four houses in Lebanon is a headquarters, a guard post, a weapon storage facility or a hiding place for Hezbollah."
Manelis also urged the Lebanese people to take action against the Iranian takeover. "The IDF is prepared for any scenario," he wrote. "As we have made clear over the past few years, our red lines are clear. Those who need to know about it, know about it. The choice is yours, citizens of Lebanon."
