IDF targets Hamas observation posts following Sunday rocket launch

Following the rocket launch from the Gaza Strip on Sunday evening, the IDF targeted Hamas observation posts in the Rafah area. The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said the launch constitutes a threat to the security of Israeli citizens and Hamas was being held accountable.

IDF tanks targeted and destroyed Hamas observation posts in southern Gaza after a rocket was launched towards Israel Sunday night. There were no injuries reported.

The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said that the rocket exploded in Gazan territory and stated that the attack constitutes a threat to the security of Israeli citizens. “The terror organization Hamas is accountable for all terror incidents carried out from the Gaza Strip,” the Spokesperson’s Unit said.

Palestinian media outlets reported that IDF artillery fire was launched in the direction of Khan Yunis and the central Gaza Strip and military aircraft were circling above. According to the reports, flares were fired over Rafah and IDF tanks destroyed an observation post near the Maghazi refugee camp along the border with Israel.

Also on Sunday night, IDF forces arrested two suspects who crossed the security barrier into Israel from the southern Gaza Strip. The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit reported that the suspects were brought in for questioning.
